Our Story
Escaping The Ordinary was founded in Dallas, Texas in 2010 to be a positive hub to bring the best music to the masses. ETO has released 3 compilations and has presented multiple concerts before going on hiatus in 2012. The founder, Ty Griffin, moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 2015 and works in business development in the oil & gas industry. Outside of his day job, he lives in the Tulsa Arts District and relaunched ETO in Tulsa on April 5th, 2018. The first ETO concert in Tulsa was Ty Griffin‘s Birthday Bash at the Vanguard on April 6th, 2018 with The Brothers Moore, ModernMyth, New Time Zones, and Stinky Gringos.
Through the free Escaping The Ordinary compilation series, the best bands in music are featured. The idea is to showcase how these artists are escaping the ordinary in their lives and inspire others to do the same.
So now, Escaping The Ordinary is the ONLY rock music advocacy and promotional strategy collective in Tulsa, and the hope is that more promoters start forming because this needs to happen in order for the Tulsa music scene to grow. Tulsa is the bridge between Kansas City and the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, and we need to get more national touring bands and booking agents to book shows in the Tulsa area with local talent.
