Today she performs Devi Stuti in praise of Durga Lakshmi Saraswathi. In this piece, the dancer praises the three Hindu goddesses: Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswathi, who are all different forms of the universal mother, Sakthi. Each goddess is described in detail and the dancer’s devotion to each deity is made clear. Durga is the goddess of power, Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth, and Saraswathi is the goddess of knowledge. Each verse pertaining to each deity is composed of various pieces by Adi Sankaracharya. This stuthi is designed with small jathis or footwork to break up the expressive verses. The dancer ends this stuthi by addressing all three goddesses and expressing her deep reverence. This stuthi is in the Raagamalika raagam and set in Adi taalam and choreographed by Guru. Dr. Padma Subramaniam and revisualized by Guru. Narayanee Ananth.
