Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, marks a sacred moment in American history—the day enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, finally received the news of their emancipation on June 19, 1865, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. It is a day of liberation, remembrance, and spiritual reflection. Beyond the celebrations and community events, Juneteenth invites us to pause, give thanks, and lift our voices in prayer—not only for what has been overcome but for what still lies ahead.
