New research is continuing to highlight just how important Vitamin B12 is for the brain and nervous system
A 2025 study found that even people with “normal” B12 levels may still show signs of neurological decline, slower processing speed, and damage to white matter in the brain. Researchers are now questioning whether current deficiency ranges are truly optimal for long-term brain health.
Vitamin B12 plays a major role in:
• Nervous system function
• Methylation & homocysteine balance
• Energy production
• Memory & cognitive performance
• Nerve protection and repair
Low or suboptimal levels have been linked to brain fog, fatigue, memory issues, mood changes, and neurological symptoms.
This is why maintaining optimal — not just “adequate” — B12 levels may be more important than previously thought.
