This mindset initially created significant problems for Steve and me because I didn’t listen to what he said. I thought I knew best! Steve felt disrespected every time he made a decision, and I would do the opposite, or an even greater offense is when I wouldn’t consult him and make decisions for both of us.

I will never forget God asking me why I was afraid to submit to Steve. I responded to God with a prideful, justifying answer, “because he’s going to hurt me!” God’s response to me still resounds in my ear today.”
