Check out this post from The Toadies. They, along with Mike Graff are doing something really great for Chad Lovell at their show in November at HOB. If you didn’t know, chad was a gifted musician in his own right, ran sound at Curtain Club forever and was our front of house sound guy for a while too.

So, please join us in supporting this great cause for Chad’s family as he continues to fight through a traumatic brain injury he suffered from a fall a few years back.

Kicking off our upcoming Nov 11th House of Blues Dallas show will be a rare performance from Mike Graff with Mike Daane - Music and Duncan Black. These guys are legendary Dallas musicians whose former bands include Course of Empire, Ugly Mus-tard, Andy Timmons and Moustrap.

"For a chunk of the '90’s Mike Graff & Course of Empire ruled the Dallas music scene with the biggest sound around. Mike has always been a proper guitar hero of mine. I’ve seen his trio with Duncan Black and Mike Daane and they create an EPIC sound,” Clark.

The show will be special because of their performance and also because we are planning to hold an auction for Mike Graff's former bandmate and Course of Empire drummer, Chad Lovell. For those of you familiar with Dallas’ Deep Ellum, Chad was also the long-time sound guy at Curtain Club. Chad suffered a traumatic brain injury from a fall in Nov of 2019. He’s remained in a care facility since.

In spite of a surreal number of medical obstacles, Chad continues to survive. If you appreciate Chad’s work as a drummer or just want to participate in something positive, please consider ordering Course Of Empire’s vinyl record “Fields Of Discipline." This recording represents Chad’s first session with CoE, and features several previously unreleased compositions. 300 hand-numbered discs are being made. Proceeds from any CoE-related merch sold from the Bandwear online store and HOB auction proceeds will benefit Chad’s family.
