Waist beads didn’t originate from one tribe. They’re worn across West Africa; Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Togo, and more—with different meanings in different cultures.

And yes! You can appreciate and wear cultural items without participating in or agreeing with every spiritual practice tied to them.

Wearing waist beads doesn’t mean you’re worshiping anyone’s gods. That’s not how culture works.
