Clicks Keyboard Case for iPhone: A Retro Tech Throwback with Modern Features

The Clicks Keyboard Case, available for pre-order at BestBuy.ca and shipping on August 19, 2024, is a unique blend of modern tech and nostalgic charm. Designed for the iPhone 15 Plus, Pro, and Pro Max, this case offers a compact QWERTY keyboard integrated with a protective cover, making it one of the most talked-about gadgets at CES 2024. Naturally, I was eager to test it out and see if it lives up to the hype.

What is the Clicks Keyboard Case?
The Clicks Keyboard Case is a fusion of protection and productivity. It connects to your iPhone 15 via USB-C (with versions for iPhone 14 featuring a Lightning connector). Once attached, you can use the physical keyboard for everything from typing messages and entering web addresses to using keyboard shortcuts and emojis. It pairs with an app that lets you customize the keyboard’s backlight, manage power-saving features, and access firmware updates.

Set-Up and Initial Impressions
Setting up the Clicks Keyboard Case was straightforward. I simply slid my iPhone 15 Pro into the case, snapping it securely around the USB-C port. Removing it was just as easy, with no awkward tugging or potential damage to worry about—a big plus for those who’ve struggled with hard-to-remove cases before.

The case itself has a sleek, slim profile (mine came in the elegant London Sky color), but it does add a couple of inches to the phone’s length. This extra bulk can make the phone feel bottom-heavy, especially when typing one-handed, but it’s manageable. The textured back offers a solid grip, and the case includes raised lips around the edges for added screen protection.

Design and Functionality
The Clicks Keyboard Case isn’t MagSafe-certified, meaning some MagSafe accessories might work with it, but the connection won’t be as secure as with a certified case. Fortunately, the case features a USB-C port that allows for pass-through charging, so you can keep your phone powered while using it.

Typing on the keyboard takes some getting used to. Initially, I found myself using my nails to hit the keys out of fear of mistyping, and accidental presses were common. Over time, though, I adapted and my typing speed improved significantly. The keyboard includes helpful features like a soft return function, which you can customize in the app, and an alt lock for easy input of numbers or special characters.

What Works and What Doesn’t
The backlit keyboard is one of my favorite features. It illuminates automatically when you start typing, and you can adjust the brightness through the app. However, the backlight would occasionally turn off on its own, which was frustrating when I needed to type in the dark.

The tactile feel of the keys is reminiscent of older devices like the BlackBerry, and those who miss that typing experience will likely enjoy this case. My 12-year-old son, who tested it as well, found it easy to use and liked the overall experience. Read More https://buypc.store/keyboards/
