We are a family of dog lovers. We have five fur-babies of our own! We regularly foster for local shelters & rescues and have fostered over 150 dogs of all ages and breeds in the last few years. We treat every dog like they are our own. We originally started boarding for our adopters to help counter the costs of our extreme fostering, and have since built up a great reputation as one of the best boarding houses around which we are very proud of.
We want every pup to have the best stay possible, so we personalize their care as much as possible. We have 4 large fenced play yards with splash pools, climbers, tunnels & 3 acres for pups to run and play. We recently put in a full size pool with beach entry to pups 35lbs and over to play in while supervised of course!
Because we let the pups play on the entirety of the property we do drop offs, pick ups and tours at specified hours by appointment only to ensure the property is secure when the pups are roaming freely. Call to schedule a tour or your pup's stay today!
What are the hours?
We have drop off/pick up hours 7-9 am & 5-7 pm Monday-Saturday 8- 10 am & 4-6pm Sundays with the exception of major holidays. Tours are available by appointment only.
What methods of payment are accepted?
Cash is preferred, but we also accept checks from local banks, paypal , & Zelle no credit or debit cards are accepted.
Where do they stay?
Large pups stay in our temp controlled pup barn during meals & sleep hours. They play in play yards & across the property throughout the day. Small dogs (35lbs or smaller) & seniors stay in our guest cottage attached to the main house. They play in the attached oversized turfed play yard.
How long are the pups roomed?
We try to give the pups as much time to play as possible. All pups are roomed from 10pm to 6am for sleeping and during meals, but the rest of the time they are out playing in one of our fenced play-yards, playing across the property or lounging on their couches & chairs indoors.
What about the weather?
Our pup barn is both heated & cooled to ensure pups are comfortable. We prefer pups get as much outside time as possible, but when the weather does not allow for it we play indoors and watch Netflix with them :) As for outdoors our theory is- if it’s too hot/cold for us it’s not comfortable for them. BHB staff are outdoors whenever any of our pups are.
What is required & what do I bring?
Pups must be at least 4 months old. All we require is food & proof of basic vaccinations Rabies, Bordatella, & DHPP by the time of drop off. We treat our property for fleas/ticks monthly but ask that all pups be on treatment as well.
We have everything else a pup could need, but feel free to bring whatever you think will make them feel comfortable. We will not need any bowls, leashes, prong collars or harnesses during their stay.
What Happens if a dog is injured?
Dogs like children sometimes play too rough. We supervise all play and do our best to mitigate any issues before they happen. We treat it just as if we were babysitting a child. We will not interrupt your vacation for scratch or knick that does not require medical attention. We will contact you if we are unsure whether they need to see a vet and let you decide. If it is an emergency we will take the pup to the nearest animal hospital and get them seen. We will contact you on our way there as to not waste any time. You will be responsible for all medical bills incurred by your pet.
We want your dogs stay to be a great one, but there are some dogs that just do not handle boarding well. We will not accept or be responsible for any dogs with aggression or extreme anxiety. They do not have to get along with other dogs, but they do have to like humans. Dogs must be ok with being taken from their room to the play yards by staff. If they show any signs of aggression you will be contacted for pick up. If dogs are showing signs of anxiety you will be contacted. Anxiety often leads to destructive behavior. Dogs may destroy the space they are staying and injure themselves in the process. Please let us know if this is a concern. We have techniques to deal with some basic anxiety, but you will be held liable for any damage to BHB property or injuries caused by your pet.
