SUMMER WORKSHOP SPEAKER HIGHLIGHT: Maggie Stroud MCN, RD, LD, CEDS;
Part 2 of 3 speakers for โNavigating the Maze: Treating ARFID & Co Occurring Diagnosesโ
Since the addition of Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) diagnosis in the DSMV clinicians are seeing more and more clients presenting in their office or treatment center with this unique diagnosis. Many may feel ill-equipped to treat and support this population, which becomes more challenging when other co-occurring diagnoses increase the complexity of the course of treatment. In this presentation we will specifically discuss clients struggling with ARFID and trauma, other eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, neurodivergence, and PANDAS/PANS. We will identify current research, interventions, application and skill building in order to best equip clinicians to treat ARFID with co-occurring diagnoses. We will also identify specific considerations for adolescents versus adults and each level of care. At the conclusion of this presentation clinicians will feel more confident and prepared to navigate supporting clients struggling with ARFID and co-occurring diagnosis.
