🚨 This is exactly why preventative home maintenance matters.

Already in 2026, through the routine inspections we perform during our quarterly visits, we’ve uncovered multiple deferred maintenance issues that—if left unchecked—would have turned into tens of thousands of dollars in repairs or serious safety hazards.

Here’s a short list of real issues we’ve found before they became major problems:
• 🚁 Drone roof inspection revealed a broken chimney cap that was allowing rainwater to enter the chimney system
• šŸ”„ A tankless water heater with service valves installed incorrectly—meaning it could never be serviced
• āš ļø Another tankless unit where the controller and manual were left inside the case, resting against the heating element and partially melted. Thankfully, this was on the guest side of the home—otherwise it could have resulted in a fire
• šŸ’§ A persistent water intrusion issue near a side door that was already allowing moisture into the basement area and would have eventually led to rot in the home’s main support beams
• 🚪 A damaged French door threshold that prevented the door from closing properly
• šŸ¦ An improperly installed bathroom exhaust vent cover that was broken and allowing animals to enter the home
• šŸ® Eight exterior copper lanterns that were severely corroded and in need of repair and restoration

None of these homeowners called us because something had ā€œfailed.ā€
They were found because someone was looking—consistently and intentionally.

That’s the difference between reactive repairs and proactive maintenance.

If you own a home, rental, or vacation property and want small issues caught before they become expensive emergencies, that’s exactly what we do.

Today’s Service Call – A Good Reminder That Not Everything Is What It Seems āš”ļø

We were called out today for a homeowner who had several outlets that suddenly stopped working. At first glance, it looked like a classic case of a tripped GFCI—but after checking every GFCI in the house, they were all working properly. We moved on to the breaker panel, and everything appeared to be on there as well.

After doing some deeper diagnostics, we removed the panel cover and checked the load wires coming off each breaker. That’s when we found the real issue: one breaker had actually tripped internally but was still sitting in the ā€œonā€ position. Because it didn’t look tripped, it was easy to miss.

We were able to repair the breaker, restore power to the affected outlets, and reinstall the outlets the homeowner had removed while trying to track down the problem themselves.

While on site, we also:
• Helped diagnose a water intrusion issue
• Reset an arc-fault circuit interrupter (AFCI)
• Noted a missing exterior exhaust vent cover and made a plan to return and replace it

This is a perfect example of why proactive maintenance and having a trusted second set of eyes matters. Small issues can hide in plain sight—and catching them early helps prevent bigger problems down the road.

If you’ve got something that just ā€œdoesn’t seem rightā€ in your home, we’re always happy to take a look. šŸ‘‹
