Adele Louise Shaw: Contemporary Art, Abstract Landscape Paintings
02/13/2026
Join us tonight, from 5:30 to 8 PM as a studio turns into a gallery with guest artists, Lucy Boland and Kitty Hudson Cawley.
Kitty says about her work: “My work with fused glass helps me remember the “more” of life. I find joy every time I catch the magic of light dancing through the glass, causing it to glow and sparkle. It is that magic which I hope to share with those who bring my glass into their home, including artful tableware as well as decorative pieces, such as sun catchers or mosaics.”
Lucy says: “Textiles are a fascinating art form, intimate and personal, reflecting the culture of their time and place. Traditional fabrics are often made with great care, ephemeral, meant to be used. I’ve studied, collected, worked with and loved world textiles for most of my life. One textile tradition that is especially beautiful is the ancient Japanese art of the kimono and its accessories.”
And there’s my work with wax, both encaustic paintings and ephemeral candles.
The studio/gallery looks amazing, please join us!

New Paintings by Adele Louise Shaw
Adele’s paintings are inspired by the botanical world. She uses many materials – watercolors, inks, encaustic paint, pens, pencils _ to fuse together layers of color and techniques. Her art vibrates with undulating forms and earthly elements of fire, air, and water. Flowers – poppies, sunflowers, iris – complement the abstract forms.
Contemplating “the nature of art and the art of nature”.
These abstract artworks, fueled by my fascination with the natural world, reflect the inspiration I find in botanical and aquatic forms. Poppies, sunflowers, tulips, iris, calla lilies and others contributed to these paintings.
So much of my experience as a painter comes from experimentation, chance and surprise. I love to experiment, to push and pull materials. My efforts aren’t easily landed and a painting isn’t “finished” to me unless I see or do something new. I find that exciting. This is why I refer to many of my paintings as “studies”.
“I think one’s art goes about as far and as deep as one’s love goes.”
-Andrew Wyeth

I’ve banished myself to the studio… a self imposed exile, the best kind. Here, the natural cycles of grief, loss, sadness and process give way to experimentation, trial, error, production and an exhibition of paintings in May.
