Hello Hikers!
If you have ventured outside these last couple of days you have surely sensed that spring is just around the corner! Join us this Saturday, February 14th to see if it’s true!
This Saturday’s hike will take us to the Swan Creek Greenway located at 1289 Hwy 72 East in Athens, Alabama. We will meet at the Church of the Good Shepherd at 9am for anyone who might like to carpool or caravan to our destination. If you would rather meet us there we should be there close to 9:45am.
Swan Creek is an easy walk through a wooded area alongside a stream that is usually brimming with wildlife. The trail is flat, wide, and rated easy so it can be enjoyed by folks of all ages and abilities. If this sounds like something for you, please join us! And bring your Valentine!
Hikers should wear appropriate footwear for walking and dress for the weather. Hikers are also encouraged to bring water, snacks and any other items that might be needed for an hour or two outdoors.
If you have questions feel free to text or call 256-221-4091. See you there!

Turn up the sound and listen to the cranes! Holy Hikers braved the questionable weather this morning and were treated to quite a welcome from the cranes! It was a great morning!

Hello Hikers!
Have you caught a glimpse of the Cranes this year? They’re everywhere! And there is no place better to see and appreciate them than at the Wheeler Wildlife Visitor Center in Decatur during the Crane Festival. We will gather at the main building at the visitor center on Saturday, January 10th at 9:30 am to walk trails, take pictures and welcome the cranes back to the refuge.
Afterwards we will meet for lunch at Bob Gibson’s BBQ on Danville Rd. at around 11:30.
It should be a great start to the new year! See you there!

Hello Holy Hikers,
We are excited to add some local history to our hike this month with a visit to the historical Crabb Stewart Key Dotson home located in Morgan county!
Located at 1004 Nat Key Road in Hartselle, it was purchased in 2015 by Robert and Janice Dotson who hoped to properly restore and preserve the home and surrounding property. They soon began traveling their own winding path through the home’s history and were surprised to learn it played a significant role in the early history of Morgan County. As a result, the Crabb Stewart Key Dotson home was added to the Alabama Registry of Landmarks and Heritage in 2018.
The Dotsons love to share the stories they have uncovered about their home and have graciously agreed to have us on Saturday, December 13, at 10am to share them with us! So if you are a history buff and love to explore the past as well as the forests we love join us Saturday, December 13th, 10am, at 1004 Nat Key Road. It should be an amazing morning!

Hope to see you there!
