One of the biggest things that held me back from garment knitting was not knowing how to tell if a pattern was beginner-friendly.

Before you cast on, check the:

🧶 Techniques or abbreviations used
🧶 Garment construction
🧶 Pattern length (number of pages)
🧶 Projects tab on Ravelry

My rule of thumb? If I only need to learn one new skill, it’s probably a great project for me to tackle.

And if you’re looking for beginner-friendly garment patterns, definitely check out . Chantal’s patterns are some of my favorites for newer garment knitters!

Want to try cone yarn but have no idea where to start? 🧶

Cone yarn can feel intimidating at first, but once you understand how it works, it’s actually super approachable.

Cone yarn is simply yarn wound onto cones instead of skeins. It’s often more affordable, amazing for garments, and means WAY fewer ends to weave in 🙌

The biggest difference? Cone yarn is sold by weight (grams), not by skein count. So before buying, you’ll need to do a little yarn math to make sure you have enough for your project — especially if you’re holding multiple strands together.

In this reel, I’ll show you exactly how I calculate how much cone yarn to buy so you can shop with confidence ✨

Follow along as I share more beginner-friendly cone yarn tips!
