Sad news. Bruce was someone I knew quite well through my years on the Colorado Tourism Board. He knew the lodging industry well and was a voice of wisdom for understanding the challenges of resort communities. I always enjoyed visiting with Bruce and he always carried a big smile and generous heart.

Today, we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Bruce Horii.

For decades, Bruce was a driving force behind Beaver Run Resort and the tourism industry throughout Breckenridge, Summit County, and Colorado. As our Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Bruce helped shape countless partnerships, welcomed visitors from around the world, and championed the success of businesses across our community.

But those who knew Bruce know that his greatest impact wasn't measured in room nights, events, or accolades. It was measured in relationships. Bruce had an extraordinary ability to make people feel valued, supported, and connected. He was a mentor, leader, friend, and ambassador for the community he loved so deeply.

His influence can be found throughout Beaver Run, throughout Breckenridge, and in the many lives he touched over the course of his distinguished career.

We invite our friends, colleagues, partners, and community members to join us in celebrating Bruce's life and legacy.

In Bruce's honor, we encourage guests to wear their favorite Hawaiian shirt or polo shirt.

As we gather to remember Bruce, we will share stories, celebrate his accomplishments, and honor the extraordinary impact he had on our industry and community.

Plans are also underway to establish a memorial fund in Bruce's name to support the community. Additional information about ways to honor Bruce's legacy and support his family will be shared when available.

Please keep Bruce's family, friends, and loved ones in your thoughts during this difficult time.

Aloha, Bruce. Thank you for your friendship, leadership, and unwavering dedication to this community. Your legacy will live on in the people you inspired and the lives you touched. ❤️

Summer Reading 06/20/2026

Reading is succeeding! My office is proud to help support the Delta County Libraries Summer Reading Program!

As a kid, I recall loving my weekly visits to the library. It was through reading that I learned of the world beyond our great county and discovered the vast subject genres that continues to be of interest. These include history, sciences, the arts, humanities, the classics, geography, etc.

Kids would be well served exploring the great wealth of our libraries and enhancing their knowledge and interests during the summer sessions.

Soper helps push through bill to benefit rural hospitals 06/02/2026

This bill will save Delta Health $1,077,763 per year in bureaucratic and admin costs. This is huge for our rural hospitals, that would spend $1, only to get $0.30 back from the state. Ending HTP makes sense and replacing it with a quality program ensures the focus remains on patient outcomes.

Soper helps push through bill to benefit rural hospitals House District 54 Rep. Matt Soper (R-Delta) finished his last term in the state Legislature earlier this month, with his final bill passing unanimously in both chambers.

As Chairman of the Colorado International friendship caucus, it was an honor to lead in the presenting of the flags of our state and nation to the Taiwanese-Denver Chamber of Commerce. These flags flew over the Colorado State Capitol in recognition of the tremendous economic and cultural exchanges between Colorado and Taiwan.

As a top-10 trading partner, Taiwan and Colorado exchange goods, services, expertise, tourism, student exchanges, and cultural enrichment.

I want to thank Lt. Gov. Dianne Primavera, Rep. Anthony Hartsook, Mayor Mike Coffman, Judge Joe Jefferson and Mayor of Brighton/Congressman Evans’ representative for joining me in presenting these flags to the Taiwan Chamber and the Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office.
