Thursday I had to put down my 15 year old kitty Gwennie.

It happened very quickly and unexpectedly and I had to say goodbye very fast to end her suffering.

Fluid had surrounded her lungs due to cancer we were unaware of and she was struggling to breathe. The battle would have been downhill only patching symptoms so with the ER docs recommendation I said goodbye.

When I came home I was in absolute shock. How did I wake up, rush out the door with my favorite creature, to come home to an empty place? How could this have happened just like that?

It was 2 days before I could speak or see straight. Grieving happened after the shock wore off.

I realized daily gratitude is CRUCIAL because things can LITERALLY change in a split second.

Don’t take anything or anyone for granted - you never know when they’ll be gone. Say I love you, do the thing - whatever it is, treat each moment as if it is fleeting - bc it is.

Thankfully I have Kaida to keep me company. It still feels surreal but I have the tools to go through tue grieving process without my ED or getting high.

For that, I am proud.
