Attachments....we all have them. In fact, as human beings, we don't exist without being attached to something: a person, a group, an idea, a set of rules or beliefs, our stories, our feelings.

What are you attached to?

Whatever you attach to, you imbue that attachment with a sense of your well being. Whether you want to admit it or not, your sense of peace and safety in your life comes to depend on whatever you attach to. If you attach to an idea of how much money you need to be comfortable; whether your partner says and does the things you believe they should; whether you perform or achieve to a level you think you should; whether others approve of your choices or not; whether you behave or feel the way you think you should. Your well being becomes dependent on the outcomes you have attached to.

You can try to practice detachment, but this will go against every visceral and energetic human instinct in you that yearns and reaches to be attached. Your need to feel deeply and securely attached runs to the very core of who you are! And it will never be able to rest in peace and ease until it finds it's attachment to a source that can hold you perfectly and permanently without disappointing you, hurting you, or leaving you. You can change WHAT you are attached to, but you can't eliminate the profound and reflexive need to BE attached.

What are you attached to?

Does what or who you have been attached to leave you feeling secure at all times? Perfectly connected? Confident? Able to choose whatever you want with ease?

Do your attachments give you a deep sense of freedom, to say yes to your dreams and to say no to misaligned obligations?

Do the targets of your attachment show up for you when you feel alone, or does they require you to "pay" for whatever you get from them?
