I’ve been sitting with this story for a long time. Now I’m ready to share it.
Finding the Light: An Interdisciplinary Art and Oral History Project on the Legacy of HIV/AIDS is here. It’s a series of real, unfiltered conversations with people whose lives have been shaped by HIV/AIDS. I created it because I believe everyone knows someone living with or lost to this epidemic, even if they don’t realize it yet.
I’m also the first interview.
I’ve been positive since 2011. I talk about the day I found out, the years after, what dating looked like, why I didn’t tell my parents for over a decade, and why I now consider my diagnosis one of the best things that ever happened to me.
Life can still be grand. This is me proving it.
