Late Apex Track Days
See our Mission Statement.
We are planning to have a 2 day event in August. It was recently discussed and I don't have any specifics. We do know it will be a cook-out, camping and Drag racing that night.
With in the next week I'll have pricing and the date it will be held.
Novice Group Notes
Our Novice group rules are designed with safety in mind. The classroom sessions will illustrate lines on the track, turn-in points, pit in / pit out procedures and various other important topics. We also understand that there are 2 types of Novice riders: those with trackday experience and those who are new to track riding. After the first session we will divide the group into sub-groups each containing a control rider. As a rule, all novices must attend the class sessions, follow the leader sessions, and abide by all passing rules established until our lunch-break. After our lunch-break you will be on your own, although the classroom sessions and the follow the leader will continue for riders wanting further instructions.
With rare exception, if a veteran novice rider expresses and demonstrates to management that he or she is of an elevated skill level and would like to forgo a classroom session or follow the leader session, it can be handled on a case by case basis. Passing rules for the riders in this group, and any group, will not be changed in any event. Changing these passing rules would compromise the safety of other riders in the same group.
If a novice rider's skills surpass the rules established for the novice class it is recommended that he or she either bump to the next group level or work within the novice group guidelines to fine tune his or her skills.
Jamie James told me he's going to be there again. This time he has a Yamaha to shake-down and maybe a 2-up bike to offer rides. IIRC he stated, "nothing too fast, not any faster than the bike can go."
Ricky Torres told me in a conversation earlier today. Even though he can't ride, he too will be there with his rig offering help.
GN Gonzales and Cycle Gear of Baton Rouge is looking into offering a coupon for a Registered rider to purchase track gear for our events.
I addressed the confusion on kick-stands for our Novice group riders in my Tech-Insp. I also created a NOTE outlining a few specifics on how our Novice group is structured and operated. If you have any questions about our guidelines, don't hesitate to ask.
We also have a pool of experienced veteran racers and riders who has offered to help. If there's anything we miss, bring it to our attention. We're looking forward to offering a solid program that not only will be fun but educational.

It didn't start out good in the morning, then cars were exploding oil on the track, but once that was cleaned up, in the afternoon the sun started to come out and it ended up being amazing!
