The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued the following 2024 RV recalls:

ALLIANCE RV, LLC

Incorrect Breaker May Allow Circuit to Overheat

A breaker that overheats increases the fire risk.

Potential Number of Units Affected: 235

Alliance is recalling certain 2024 Avenue 22ML, 26RD, 29RL, 32RLS, 33RKS, 37MBR and 38DBL travel trailers. The inverter circuit was improperly wired to a 30-amp breaker, which could allow the breaker to overheat.

Dealers will install a 20-amp breaker, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 28. Owners may contact Alliance customer service at 574-218-7165.

HIGHLAND RIDGE RV

LED Backlight Circuit Board Failure May Cause Fire

A circuit board that overheats increases the fire risk.

Potential Number of Units Affected: 681

Highland Ridge is recalling certain 2022-2023 Mesa Ridge travel trailers, Mesa Ridge XLT fifth wheels, Open Range Roamer fifth wheels, Open Range travel trailers, Silverstar travel trailers and Silverstar XLT fifth wheels. The LED backlight circuit board in the cooktop range may fail, causing the board to overheat.

Dealers will disconnect and cut the circuit powering the LED backlights and terminate the wiring, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by May 30. Owners may contact Highland Ridge customer service at 800-283-8267. Highland Ridge’s number for this recall is 9904606.

LED Backlight Circuit Board Failure May Cause Fire

Potential Number of Units Affected: 17

Newmar is recalling certain 2022 Bay Star motorhomes. The LED backlight circuit board in the cooktop range may fail, causing the board to overheat.

Dealers will disconnect and cut the circuit powering the LED backlights and terminate the wiring, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by May 31. Owners may contact Newmar customer service at 800-731-8300. Newmar’s number for this recall is 610 RSB.

Starcraft is recalling certain 2023 GSL fifth wheels. The LED backlight circuit board in the cooktop range may fail, causing the board to overheat.

Dealers will disconnect and cut the circuit powering the LED backlights and terminate the wiring, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by May 30. Owners may contact Starcraft customer service at 800-283-8267. Starcraft’s number for this recall is 9902606.

WINNEBAGO INDUSTRIES, INC.

LED Backlight Circuit Board Failure May Cause Fire

Potential Number of Units Affected: 1,166

Winnebago is recalling certain 2021-2023 Sunstar, Vista, 2022-2023 Cambria, Inspire, 2023 Forza, 2024 Minnie Winnie, Spirit, 2024-2025 Porto and Vita motorhomes. The LED backlight circuit board in the cooktop range may fail, causing the board to overheat.

Dealers will replace the cooktop control panel, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by June 25. Owners may contact Winnebago customer service at 641-585-6939 or 800-537-1885. Winnebago’s number for this recall is 184.

Recalls from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued recalls involving cracked and porous LP Gas Fittings that are extremely dangerous and could potentially cause catastrophic outcomes.

22,021 RVs with model years 2021 and 2022 from 8 RV manufacturers and 37 different models have RV propane components made by Texas based Flex Tech, which also has a plant in Goshen, IN.

These components were made with contaminated brass that can result in LP gas leaks and, a gas leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.

While the brass fittings may appear perfectly normal, the contamination created “porosity” in the metal. This may cause Life-Safety issues when the fitting is torqued down, it can crack and LP gas may escape.

Huge problems can occur for thousands of RV owners when one company makes the same exact part for a lot of RV manufacturers and defects in the components are discovered.

Federal Recall personnel at NHTSA, the federal agency in charge of vehicle safety recalls, announced the recalls quietly and it’s been said that recall notices are not scheduled to go out until July 1st, putting thousands of RVers at risk.
