Hallowell Fly Rods

A different take then the first mortised butt I did for the reel seat. This one is bloodwood. I thought using a blued check will look good when I build it out with blood red wraps and black trim bands. Need more finish on the grip and make some tips for these 8' 5wts

Great show and casting tournament at the Keystone classic Fly fishing Festival this weekend. Mike McFarland took the gold, Derek Eberly won silver (he also won the Hardy cup this year and I lucked into bronze in the open division. Both Derek and Mike used a McFarland 9'5wt Hybrid. I was the only caster representing bamboo, I used my 8' 5wt. All others that competed used a graphite 9' 5wt of various makes.
