Last week, we were honored to recognize the service of Deputy Newton and Deputy Thorne with the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office by presenting them each with a Certificate of Appreciation from our agency, as well as letters expressing our appreciation for all they do.

Their compassion and dedication to trauma-informed care has truly made a difference in the lives of individuals we serve within our communities. Strong partnerships between law enforcement and victim advocacy are essential to creating an environment where survivors feel heard, believed, and supported through the entire process. We are deeply grateful for the work they both do and look forward to continued collaboration.

Power is back on with exception of a small number of locations.

We are dealing with a power outage in areas from Tower to Ely this morning. I’ve been in communication with Minnesota Power and they are actively attempting to locate where the line disruption occurred and repair it. We hope to have more information soon, and we will share that when we receive it.

As we wind down for the day, there have been no major changes to the fires near Crane Lake according the MN DNR.

The Sioux Fire continues to be our biggest concern. It is impacting the Echo Trail and remains a threat to push farther south. Dense smoke limited the U.S. Forest Service’s ability to accurately assess fire activity today, so we will continue to evaluate conditions overnight as more information becomes available.

At this time, there are no changes to the Ready, Set, Go evacuation zones. We will continue to monitor the fires overnight and make any necessary adjustments to evacuation areas if conditions change.
