Thinking about moving here? A few real tips:
– Invest in a serious coat, boots, and gloves (I went with the scarf-and-coat look for the aesthetic today. It is not even “bring out the big jacket” weather yet. When you’re from here, 30s is sweater weather).
– Remote start or a good ice scraper will save your mornings.
– Say yes to winter activities (skating, skiing, sledding) so the cold feels fun, not endless.
– Daylight is short in winter, so make plans with friends and get outside when the sun actually shows up.
– Summer here is elite: lakes, patios, and parks make the long winter worth it.
