Unlock the secret to exceptional flavor and resilience with the Nero 600m fig, a truly remarkable, highly productive Bordeaux-style heirloom fig variety that shines with intense berry flavor and superior cold hardiness! Discovered in the majestic Apennine Mountains of Italy at an elevation of 600 meters, this mountain-born treasure uniquely thrives against freezing temperatures, rain, and humidity, making it a standout in any climate. As a self-fertile 'common' fig type, it doesn't require a wasp for pollination, ensuring a bountiful harvest with ease. Its medium-sized, oblong-shaped figs boast a stunning dark purple to jet-black skin, encasing a rich, deep red to strawberry interior that's simply irresistible. Falling under the highly coveted Bordeaux berry flavor category, it delivers an extraordinary taste experience that's sweet, complex, and reminiscent of black mulberry, blackberry, and honey all in one. The texture is nothing short of phenomenal - highly jammy and juicy with a soft, unnoticeable skin and a pleasant seed crunch that's sure to delight. With a high sugar concentration of around 25, this variety is sure to impress. It generously yields a massive, abundant early-summer 'breba' crop on the previous year's wood, followed by a mid-season main crop on new growth, providing a prolonged fig-filled journey. This medium-to-high vigor tree, reaching 8–10 feet at maturity, can be easily pruned smaller, and features deeply lobed, ornamental 'long-fingered' foliage that's a visual treat. Enjoy exceptional cold hardiness (USDA Zone 6, down to 0°F to 5°F with basic winter protection) and excellent resistance to rain cracking and fruit spoilage, making it a worry-free delight. For optimal growth, position it in full sun to half-day sun with well-drained soil, and watch it thrive. Its manageable size and heavy production make it highly recommended for container growing in northern or colder climates, perfect for extending its growing range. For the ultimate flavor experience, allow the figs to hang on the tree for 2 to 3 weeks after they first change color, letting those deep, jammy sugars fully develop - the wait is worth it!

The Tiger Panache fig (also known as Ficus carica 'Panaché' or Tiger Stripe fig) is an old, highly prized variety originally from Spain, celebrated for its eye-catching variegated fruit and premium flavor Appearance: The exterior features a striking pattern of alternating bright yellow and lime-green stripes. As the fig matures, the stripes soften into a more uniform, warm caramel-yellow hue. Slicing it open reveals a brilliant, blood-red strawberry pulp that contrasts beautifully with the skin. It belongs to the "complex berry" flavor grouping, offering a rich, jammy, and intensely sweet taste reminiscent of raspberry or strawberry jam with a hint of citrus tang. This variety is highly unifera (producing only a main crop, rarely a breba crop) and ripens very late in the season. It requires a long, hot, and dry summer to properly mature and develop high sugar content.Hardiness: It thrives best in USDA Zones 8–10. While it can be grown in Zone 7, it is not particularly cold-hardy compared to varieties like Chicago Hardy; it requires heavy winter protection or container growing so it can be brought indoors during deep freezes. It has low split resistance and average rain tolerance. Excessive late-summer humidity or rain can cause the ripening fruit to split, sour, or rot on the branch before hitting peak sweetness. It is a high-vigor, productive grower that can reach 12 to 15 feet in height, though it adapts beautifully to heavy pruning or container cultivation
