Duffels 4 Dreams

Today we delivered 100 duffel bags to Cass County Social Services along with a check for over $1500 in completion of our Community Change Initiative. These bags will go to 100 foster children and foster parents and assist in smoothing the transition of children into foster care. We would like to thank all of our donors and partners in this initiative for making this effort possible.

The team had a great time putting all of the bags together at TMI. 100 bags are ready for delivery to Cass County Social Services.

Thank you friends and donor companies for all of your amazingly generous donations to Duffels 4 Dreams. We are currently within $500 of our $5000 goal and so close to the finish line. This is less than 10 complete duffel bags which would help us meet the goal of providing a duffel bag care package to each new foster child in Cass County in 2017. Please consider a tax deductible donation to our Duffels 4 Dreams initiative. As a reminder, $50 = 1 complete duffel bag.

Duffels 4 Dreams is a program developed as a community improvement project as part of the Chamber’s Leadership Fargo Moorhead West Fargo (FMWF) Program.

When most children enter foster care, they receive two trash bags to put their belongings into, or in emergency situations they only have the clothes on their backs. The trauma of being taken from their homes, parents, and siblings, with nothing to call their own, can make the transition into a new home feel less than comforting. Our goal is to make this transition more welcoming by giving the children items that belong to them in an awesome duffel bag.

Each duffel bag will include shampoo, lotion, soap, bath towel, wash cloth, toothpaste, toothbrush, comb, lice kit, teddy bear, and a blanket. Also, we will provide passes to community activities such as the Red River Zoo and Courts Plus indoor play center. Our goal is to provide 100 bags to local foster children each year.
