Now the fun begins 😎

After all the paperwork, it’s finally time to work with lumber and start bringing this deck to life.

When we first quoted this deck project (we'll show the final result in a later post), our focus was naturally on the structure we were hired to replace.

Only after demolishing the old deck did we gain full access to the garage roof beside it. And what we found underneath was a surprise.

Part of the roof that was going to sit beneath the future deck was badly damaged by water. The shingles had visible sagging, and the roof structure itself had become so soft that sections of it could be removed by hand.

At that point, we had a choice:
🅰️ ignore the problem and continue with the deck, or
🅱️ pause, bring it to the homeowner’s attention, and help find the best solution.

For us, that choice is simple. We believe it’s our responsibility to point out issues that could become much bigger and much more expensive to fix later, especially once a new deck is already built above them.

In a situation like this, we focus on explaining it clearly, offering practical and affordable solutions, and helping the homeowner decide what makes the most sense for their budget and timeline.

For us, honesty and quality always come first.

Sometimes that means a project slows down because something unexpected comes to light. Sometimes it means taking the extra time to address an issue that wasn’t originally part of the plan.

We care deeply about the people who choose us and trust us with their home.

Roofing is not usually part of what we do, but in this project it was the right thing to do because it made our customer's home safer, and helped prevent unnecessary problems down the road.

That trust means everything to us 🤗❤️
