I joined the Federal Way Korean American Association and the Northwest Korean American Association this morning for a Turtle Marathon.

It was a community walking event organized in partnership with Korean community organizations in the greater Seattle area. Participants started at Celebration Park and walked around Federal Way, including stopping at Hanwoori Garden.

It was a great way to promote health, friendship and community unity!

At last night’s City Council meeting, Mayor Jim Ferrell and the City Council presented a proclamation recognizing July as Disability Pride Month.

Council President Susan Honda and Councilmember Lydia Assefa-Dawson presented the Disability Pride Month proclamation, which recognizes the contributions, achievements and resilience of people with disabilities.

We had a big turnout for our 16th Annual Miles for Meso 5K this morning at the Federal Way Community Center.

It’s always a great way to kick off Fourth of July festivities, and it’s great to see so many community members involved!

Our community has raised more than $180,000 to fight Mesothelioma as a result of this event every year! Thanks to everyone involved in this great event every year.
