As the owner of Poprox I would love to give the community an update as to what has developed. I've been involved in downtown restoration and revitalization since 2004. Many things we've tried have worked many things haven't worked. We tried Poprox as a '70s '80s genre at the very beginning. Our intent was never for it to be a nightclub. Out of respect for my friend Kerale Cayton I let him use the venue as a nightclub until my next venture could have been formed and finalized. Last week I come to an agreement with another partner to transition PopRox into something that is more family-inclusive and I think beneficial for downtown. It's unfortunate that this partnership gelled a few days before July 4th and the ensuing incident downtown. I'm not suggesting that what happened on July 4th doesn't play into the decision but the transition in the deal that I put together happened before that night.
I am not a promoter or a nightclub owner I'm one that's trying to bring something that helps revitalize downtown and is beneficial for all residents. As you will see in the next few weeks how this transitions into something different I think this will answer a lot of questions that you may have. I have thoroughly enjoyed the times I would spend at night at Poprox in that nightclub environment. Months ago I decided to transition into something more useful that could be something utilized for the entire week not just on weekends.
I'm hoping as you see what happens in the next few weeks you will understand and appreciate our direction.
