"In our culture [circumcision] is viewed as a decision for the parents to make, which is where so much of the "who are you to judge my parenting decisions??" stuff comes from. I understand, we see our parenting decisions as very personal and of course, we all want to do what's best for our children.
What we are trying to do primarily is change the perception that this is a parenting decision, because it's not. The decision has nothing - literally NOTHING - to do with the parents. The decision should be made by the one and only person who has to live with the consequences. There are literally hundreds of thousands if men out there who are so dissatisfied with their parents' decision to have them cut that they are going through a tedious, years-long non-surgical fo****in restoration process, which will not even give them back the nerve endings that were taken from them. The point is, that could be your kid someday. There is literally no possible way for you to predict what he'd want, and there is no pressing reason to have it done. There is so much information available now about how to care for an intact p***s. Why are parents even messing with it? The fo****in will retract naturally, when it is time and there is no set time limit. This retraction can happen as a 4yo or as a teenager so why are parents messing with it still, especially when there isn’t an issue? That is like me digging in my child’s ear canal, nostril, or a**s for no reason at all. (Am aware intactivist)
