One of the first signs of muscle decline even in our 30s & 40’s shows up in our arms💪🏻 -yep, it’s ‘bat 🦇wings’ that saggy back of the arm tricep that keeps moving when you 👋🏼wave😩& makes you forget about going sleeveless
🌀The triceps contribute to the shape of your arms, more so than the biceps. If you’re 50+, it’s essential to maintain a strong toned tricep muscle that is primarily responsible for extending the elbow joint & plays a significant role in upper body strength & stability.

🌀Without specific exercises that firm & tone the tricep it’s common for the arms to start to lose their firmness due to the natural loss of lean muscle (sarcopenia), reduced skin elasticity, and shifts in the distribution of body fat. That’s where tricep exercises with or without using dumbbells come in to play.
🌀A by- product of doing arm exercises is you also strengthen your chest muscles, shoulders & improve your posture.

How can you be your beautiful sparking self when you wake up with aching, painful feet you ask❓
🌀There IS something you can do to make that first step of the day less painful & it’s starts with “loving”on your feet daily🦶
🌀Aging starts from the feet-
Your balance, posture, knees, hips... everything depends on your feet.
🌀Regardless of how you begin or end your day, I hope you will pause long enough to kick off your shoes & show your feet 🦶some extra ♥️love♥️
🌀Consider what happens if we've boxed up our feet in shoes all day, every day year after year❓Never moving, never massaging or touching our feet❓ Stiffness, pain, tingling, swelling, numbness~issues like bunions, hammertoes, plantar fasciitis, neuromas (pinched nerves) and metatarsalgia to name a few…
🌀Your feet are more than a foundation~ they are the “GateKeepers” to what’s happening in your body.
Loving on your feet activates muscles & tendon reflexes in the feet sending nerve signals back to corresponding organs and glands in the body - encouraging balance, healing and optimal functioning.
🌀Strengthen them now! Just minutes of foot massage & mobility exercises daily, can keep you pain free, more youthful & active for years.

Start with a simple rotation of your ankles every morning before you take a first step.

*Take a barefoot walk through your house. When your feet get use to walking bare foot again venture outdoors for a walk on our beautiful Gulf beach & Spread those Toes

*Lift your Big Toe ~press Big Toe Down while lifting 4 Toes~ Splay your Toes

* Curl your toes under

*Rotate your Ankles *Point & Flex your Toes

* Stand on your tippy Toes while holding on to the kitchen counter waiting for coffee

*Lace your fingers between your toes 🤯 it doesn’t feel 😬good the first few times but then it does😃
Now shake 🤝hands with your foot

Moving & stimulating your feet brings life back into your steps‼️

WELLNESS WEDNESDAY

May 🌷is always a busy month traveling for graduations🎓, weddings💒, family gatherings & of course celebrating Mother’s Day & Memorial Day🇺🇸

When you can’t attend your regular yoga 🧘‍♂️or exercise/fitness class, you can refresh & energize yourself with a standing side body, legs crossed stretch. This stretch can be done just about any place, any time to loosen up the body after a long drive or to help your tired, tight, achy body feel better.

Standing Side Stretch with Legs Crossed -stretches, strengthens & lengthens a tight, fatigued body

A standing twist pose, done in sync with a smooth, easy, deep breath, will release muscle tension, stress & fatigue stored in any part of the body

Twisting the upper body improves the mobility of the spine, shoulders & neck.

The twisting action also squeezes the abdominal cavity helping cleanse, detox & tone the abdominal organs as it cools down the body & stimulates digestion

*The over lapping of the thighs ensures hip stability-
*the crossing of the feet provides balance
*the holding of the hands at the wrists creates deeper lengthening of the arm & side body

Helpful Tools:
Practice Standing Side Stretch using a door frame to help with stability & balance. Note how the arch side of the foot is pressed against the door frame to add stability.

One more important reminder‼️
Don’t hold your breath when you stretch. Breathe In, Breathe Out. In through the nose 👃& out through the 👃nose. Breath is what makes moving your body easy. One breath, one movement….your breath is the fuel your body needs 🫁

Good morning beautiful soul, let your 💫light shine🤩

Why yoga❓For me, aging is a true gift of gratitude. I love seeing what I CAN do. I don’t take my body or my health for granted like I did in my younger years. I honor my body with nurturing habits & constant movement. And, I don’t let my thoughts drift into the negative (at least for very long😁)
🌀 When it comes to my yoga practice, I delight in trying & teaching a new & challenging yoga pose.

STRENGTH & GRACE COMBINED
For yogis over 50 there are very few yoga poses more challenging than ‘The Fallen Angel’.

🌀The Fallen Angel yoga pose is powerful because it requires breath control, strong wrists, shoulders, hips & core. It involves torso flexibility to rotate the body, as well as arm and core strength to hold the body weight and lift the hips and legs.

🌀Practicing The Fallen Angel pose also requires physical strength that comes from consistent yoga practice. The most amazing benefit that comes with mastering this pose is that you develop mental strength, emotional balance & unshakeable self confidence about aging‼️🧘‍♂️

The truth about aging is that physical things do become harder, or even impossible. But, a lot becomes better, more resilient after you have lived through some disappointments & hardships.😁In yoga the mind, body & spirit can become finely tuned revealing a stronger, less fearful, more playful you. A special gift 🎁when you are older. Too bad we can’t feel this way in our 20’s.
