The rudder project as hit a significant turning point! She’s sandwiched together!! 🥪
For this project we started by making molds of the old rudder so we could pop-off two replicas. Then we repurposed an old shaft that was headed to recycling and had it machines to match our old rudder post.
After getting the plate holes laser cut, Tut welded the plate to the post. He then meticulously dry fitted the two sides, considering and re-considering all aspects of the fall out and install once it’s ready to go back in. With a bit of exposure filler she’s together and starting to look like a better version of her older sister. 😄
