Today on the Hometown Heroes Podcast, we welcome Laura Lindsey, Development Director for Heroes on the Water, an organization dedicated to helping veterans, active-duty military, first responders, and their families find healing, connection, and purpose through kayak fishing and outdoor recreation.
Laura is a passionate nonprofit communicator, donor engagement strategist, and advocate for veterans and first responders. She believes healing happens through purpose, belonging, and meaningful connections, and works to help supporters see how their generosity changes lives.

For Hometown Heroes host Rick Irving, Heroes on the Water has been much more than a fishing program. After nearly 15 years of involvement, it has become a place where lifelong friendships are formed, memories are created, and healing takes place. There is something special about being on the water that helps people reconnect with themselves, their families, and each other.
Heroes on the Water provides kayaks, fishing equipment, instruction, and organized outings at no cost to participants, creating opportunities for fellowship, relaxation, and recovery.
