The person who does the hard thing and it feels like play will stick with it longer than the person that does the hard thing but doesn’t enjoy it.
Now, on the other side of growth is doing things that are uncomfortable and sometimes things you don’t enjoy but if you can find fun in the suck you’re chances of winning are higher.
I’m not saying uproot your training and that everything has to be fun and easy but if you’re looking for a sparkplug to movement and training, try adding one fun thing this week that fills your cup.
Nothing like exposing yourself to something new.
This session was FUN.
When you train with equipment you typically don’t have access to, it feels like a kid in a candy store.
My brain starts churning even more because I like to reverse engineer my thinking often, especially when it comes to training/programming.
My thoughts go:
“How could I create a similar experience and stimulus for a professional athlete or for a grandpa who simply wants to walk his grandson through the park without needing a break, whether we’re in a 10,000 sq ft facility or a 100 sq ft room?”
The interesting thing is that the most basic programs and movements often produce great results.
Whether straightforward or fancy, they’re all just tools to get the job done.

May recap.
This month was filled with gratitude and reminders of it everywhere. Grateful for where I’ve been, grateful for where I am, and grateful for what I can’t yet see and what’s still to come.
The gift of unconditional support means a lot. When someone doesn’t have to show up, doesn’t expect anything in return, but still chooses to be there for you, that’s worth more than a lot of things in this life.
1️⃣ Ashley and I in St. Lucia. Vacation 🤝 our brother’s and sister’s wedding.
2️⃣ We spammed tacos all month and I don’t regret it.
3️⃣ Homemade chocolate chip protein bars haven’t failed.
4️⃣ Pop found this picture. Yea, Knicks in 6.
5️⃣ I’ve been increasing my daily steps. My off days are around 11-13k🙌🏾.
6️⃣ & 7️⃣ The fellas have been getting after it at 4:30am 4x per week.
8️⃣ Modules in courses I’m working on.
9️⃣Jason Brown certification complete. Very solid and practical information.
🔟 An awesome workout with Ashley and my guy Jonathan. First ever on an anti-gravity treadmill.
Choose different.
If everyone is enabling what you’re trying to break from how will you overcome the blind spots.
I can not tell a lie, they all got me at some point.
I had a power balance bracelet and phiten necklace for nearly every sneaker or cleat color.
There’s so many other things that we were told would enhance performance but were merely decoration.
What’s another one that I missed? List it in the comments.
If you watched all the way through, count your days.😂
Strength training is the fountain of youth. Point blank period.
The same way we ran playing manhunt is the same way we should be running towards strength training.
Which one of these do you remember? Drop it in the comments.😂
Almost 6 months away from the end of the year and summer’s here. Tap in.
Prioritize what’s important to you. No matter how you slice it.
Whether it’s lack of motivation, lack of time, limited access, what was once hard becomes less hard when you do it.
It’s not hard being consistent because I choose me.
A brother of mine told me this and it’s true. “3rd grade was hard and then it wasn’t.”
If you want to advocate for what’s blocking you from where you want to go, whether it’s valid/has merit or not, by all means.
If you want to figure it out, do what supports it, make adjustments when needed, and don’t stop for anything.
Missing a week of training is not the end of the world. Your body does not lose all of its progress overnight like social media makes it seem. At the same time, trying to train every quality at max effort all year round is a fast way to run yourself into the ground. More adaptations require more recovery, more energy, and more intention. The goal is not to do everything all at once, it’s to stay consistent long enough for the work to compound.
