Rooted Beginning Birth

Rooted in you, through every stage of motherhood

This tiny hand belongs to a baby who wasn't supposed to be here yet.
Born at 25 weeks, this Kentucky birth worker's baby came into the world fighting - surrounded by wires, monitors, and a medical team working around the clock. This Momma has spent her career showing up for other families in their most raw, vulnerable moments. Now it's her turn to need the village.
A 25-weeker means months in the NICU. It means leaving other children at home. It means medical bills, missed work, gas money, takeout because nobody has time to cook, and an emotional weight that most of us will never fully understand. She knows exactly what this road looks like. And she's walking it anyway, one terrifying day at a time.
This is where you come in.
100% of every dollar donated goes directly to this family.
$5 buys a gas station coffee on a 3am NICU run.
$20 covers a meal for the kids at home.
$50 takes something - anything - off her plate.
You don't have to know her to love her. You just have to know that she needs us right now.
Share this. Donate if you can. And if you can't, send every good thing you have toward this baby and this family.
The village is real. Let's prove it. đ

Letâs talk about the placenta!
Your body literally grows a temporary organ during pregnancy. From scratch.
So what does it do?
â¨Acts like a lifeline between you and your baby
â¨Delivers oxygen + nutrients to your baby
â¨Removes waste products (yes, your baby has been peeing this whole time đ
)
â¨Produces hormones that keep pregnancy going.
â¨Helps protect baby by filtering some (not all) things from your bloodstream.
âŞď¸
âŞď¸
After birth, the placenta is delivered (the âthird stageâ), and your body immediately shifts gears.
Next:
â¨Your uterus starts shrinking down (those postpartum cramps? thatâs why)
â¨The spot where the placenta was attached leaves a wound inside the uterusâabout the size of a dinner plate
â¨Your body heals that area over the next several weeks (this is where postpartum bleeding comes from)
Let me say that again louder for the people in the back:
đ Your body is healing a literal internal wound after birth.

I am completely OUT of bereavement boxes and essential supplies are critically low!!!
When families experience pregnancy or infant loss, I show up with items that help them hold, honor, and remember their baby with dignity.
Some losses happen early or at home, and without the right supplies, families are left navigating incredibly hard moments on their own. These items help ensure their baby can be cared for gently and respectfully.
Right now, I donât have what I need to continue providing that support.
If youâre able to help, you can purchase a box or donate items from my wishlist here:

Thank you for helping me show up when it matters most.

Today I received an incredible gift for the families I support â a CuddleCot. đ¤
A CuddleCot is a cooling system that allows families experiencing pregnancy or infant loss to spend more time holding their baby after birth. Instead of feeling rushed, parents are able to hold their baby, introduce them to loved ones, take photos, create memories, and say goodbye in their own time.
Many hospitals in our area thankfully have CuddleCots available for families. But having one within the community is still incredibly valuable. It allows support in situations where a loss happens at home, in out-of-hospital births, when hospital units are already using theirs, or when families choose to bring their baby home to spend more time together.
Having access to this resource means more families can have the time and space they deserve with their baby.
Iâm deeply grateful to the generous donor who made this possible. Your kindness will help provide dignity, compassion, and precious time for families walking through loss.
Thank you for helping make this support available in our community. đ¤

Some doula work happens in bright, joyful rooms filled with anticipation and the sound of a babyâs first cry.
And some doula work happens in quiet hospital settings.
While Iâm walking these halls beside a mom as she is preparing to say hello and goodbye at the same time.
When people think of doulas, they often picture celebration â labor support, encouragement, cheering a mother on as her baby enters the world.
But doula work doesnât disappear when loss enters the story.
If anything, it becomes even more important. More sacred, more holy.
My role is still the same in so many ways.
Advocating for this mama.
Helping navigate decisions she never imagined having to make.
Encouraging a mother through labor.
Holding space for a mom who is carrying both deep love and unimaginable grief at the same time.
Some births are filled with celebration.
Some births are filled with quiet, sacred moments that the world outside these hospital walls may never see.
But every birth deserves dignity.
Every baby deserves to be acknowledged and honored.
And every parent deserves support as they meet their child â even when they know they wonât be bringing them home.
Bereavement birth is still birth.
These parents are still parents.
And these babies still matter.
Sometimes this work looks different.
But my heart of doula care â presence, advocacy, compassion, and holding space â remains exactly the same.

NEW: A Compassionate Care Guide for Chiropractors.
Chiropractors see bodies every day.
But sometimes those bodies are carrying grief.
This guide was created to help providers better support families navigating pregnancy and infant loss with care that is:
⢠Trauma-informed
⢠Evidence-aware
⢠Heart-led
Because trauma lives in the body.
Because language matters.
Because office environments matter.
This isnât about doing more.
Itâs about doing it differently.
If youâre a chiropractor â or know one who truly cares about their patients â this is for you.
Letâs raise the standard of care. đ˛
Iâll gift complimentary copies to the first five providers or offices who invite me in for a lunch-and-learn, where weâll walk through the guide together and explore practical ways to make your practice more bereavement-informed.
