Today, and always, we remember Rachel Hansen - a daughter, sister, fiancée, friend, and so much more - who should be here. On June 4, 2022, just eight days before her 20th birthday, Rachel was shot by an unknown intruder inside her apartment in Gilbert, Arizona. She managed to call 911 and give her address, but she passed away from her injuries after surgery. Four years later, her murder remains unsolved. Rachel was known for her fierce independence, deep compassion, and love for animals. She was a gifted horse trainer who started riding at age six and later launched her own equine business, rescuing horses. Her kindness extended to everyone - whether it was bottle-feeding baby goats, collecting food for neighbors, or helping friends through hard times. She was described as fearless, driven, and full of love. Her parents say Rachel was a light in their lives and in the lives of many others. To honor her legacy, they created Rachel’s Rescue - a nonprofit dog rescue that helps find homes for puppies and dogs.
