This spring, our Dedicated Restoration Team removed thousands of nails from the main staging areas at Sugar Loaf Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Area as part of a grant project from Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative (Yamaha Outdoors) to remove trash & graffiti from popular OHV Areas on the U.S. Forest Service-Tonto National Forest & AZ State Trust Land.
*
OHV staging areas exist so that members of the off-road community have a designated place park their trucks & trailers & unload their off-road vehicles so they can enjoy the trails. The last thing anyone wants is to drive through thousands of nails from illegal pallet fires & get stranded in the desert with flat tires, so we remove them with our magnet bar. In this video, you can see tire tracks where people have already driven through nails.
*
We removed tens of thousands of nails from the staging areas & trails at Sugar Loaf, Four Peaks, The Rolls, & Bulldog Canyon OHV Areas during this grant project! It is illegal to burn pallets on national forest land & no one should be burning fires in OHV staging areas or on trails, even if someone else did before, it doesn’t make it right or legal.

Thank you to everyone at Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative for awarding us a grant to remove trash & graffiti from popular OHV Areas on the Tonto National Forest & AZ State Trust Land. During this project, we removed 16,204+ pounds (8.10 tons) of trash, 674 square feet of graffiti, & 7 tires from Four Peaks, Sugar Loaf, The Rolls, Bulldog Canyon, Mesquite Wash, Hewitt Station & Florence Boulders OHV Areas.

We'll be sharing more of this grant project all month, stay tuned! You can also use the link below for more photos & videos.
