Your brain is literally sabotaging your main quest right now. 🎮
I just read this article breaking down seven psychological traps that keep us grinding in the wrong zones, and man, it hit different. One that really stuck with me is the planning fallacy. You know that thing where you estimate how long a project will take, then it takes like double or triple that time?
Turns out that's not a personal failure. That's a cognitive bug we all share. We underestimate by 40 to 50 percent on average. And here's what's wild: most of us know this happens, yet we keep making the same timelines like we're exceptions.
The counter strategy? Whatever time you think something will take, multiply it by 2 or 3. Sounds extreme, but that's closer to reality.
What gets me is how this connects to becoming legendary. It's not about having perfect estimates or crushing impossible timelines. It's about being honest with yourself about what's actually achievable, then showing up consistently to do the work. When you stop lying to yourself about how long things take, you stop feeling perpetually behind. You start actually completing things.
Which project or goal have you been underestimating? What would change if you doubled your timeline and committed to that instead?
Let's talk about it in the comments. The Transformational Shapers here get that real growth comes from honest assessment, not fantasy planning.
Life's Main Quest: 7 Traps That Keep You Grinding Side Quests (VforG) Your brain is hardwired with psychological traps and more that sabotage your goals. You can't fix these biases through willpower alone. Instead, work with your brain's bugs.
A small challenge for this week, and it matters more than anything on your task list.
Think of one person you keep meaning to see. A parent, an old friend, your kid for something fun instead of a ride to practice.
Text them today and put a real date on the calendar. Not "soon." An actual day.
Then tell me in the comments who you reached out to. Saying it out loud is often what makes it happen.
