Changing the world through Hip-Hop culture, one (six) step at a time. Hip-Hop is for and about the community.
04/05/2026
At the Cypher Summit, women in hip-hop and street dance came together to share their stories and experiences.
The dance performances, workshops and panel wove a beautiful tapestry of women’s voices, movement, and journey.
The panel highlighted how women have had to fight to be heard and recognized in the culture.
This still matters today because many women are continuing to break barriers and create space for others. When we uplift women’s voices, we build a stronger and more supportive community.
How can you help create space for others to be seen and heard?
Women’s History Month
Lauryn Hill
Lauryn Hill’s journey from The Fugees to her solo album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill shows how important it is to stay true to yourself.
Inspired by Carter G. Woodson’s idea of miseducation and book entitled “The Mis-Education of the Negro”, Lauryn Hill’s music reminds us to learn our own history, think for ourselves and become “self determined”.
This still matters today because young people face pressures from society, and positive role models can help build confidence and inspire healthy relationships. Her message is about self-respect, empowerment, and choosing your own path.
What does “miseducation” mean to you today?
