🇺🇸🪖🇮🇷 After more than three months of war of aggression against Iran that saw brazen crimes such as destroying a girls’ school, torpedoing an unarmed warship, threatening genocide, and causing civilian deaths in the thousands, the U.S. has simply decided to moved on from the war by revoking some of its illegal punitative measures on Iran and promising a reparation fee of $300B. Meanwhile, much of the world appears ready to turn the page as attention shifts to the World Cup hosted in the U.S., with little discussion of the destruction and human suffering caused by its host country in the past months. The world appears to be heading toward a genuinely more anarchic future, one in which acts of war become increasingly normalized, media audiences grow desensitized to violence, while international law and the United Nations become ever more absent from political discourse. Pope Leo XIV said that a "truly just society" recognizes the dignity of every human life, as he made calls for peace in a wide-ranging address to the Spanish parliament on Monday. "The defense of human life is neither a partisan issue nor a confessional interest: it is a goal of civilization," he said. "Every human life must be recognized and safeguarded from conception to its natural end, in every circumstance of its existence."
