A Place For Hannah

Last night we had the privilege of returning to Lumley to continue our Mental Health Class. This week’s topic was one of the toughest yet—communication.

Learning how to communicate is hard. Learning how to truly receive communication without defensiveness, fear, or assumptions can be even harder. So many conflicts don’t begin because people don’t care—they begin because we misunderstand one another, react instead of respond, or communicate from places of hurt.

These conversations aren’t always comfortable, but that’s where growth happens.

Every week, we’re honored to walk alongside these incredible women as they challenge old beliefs, build healthier relationships, and develop skills that will impact every area of their lives—both inside and beyond these walls.

We’re excited to keep leaning into the tough topics because lasting change doesn’t come from avoiding discomfort; it comes from having the courage to grow through it.

Today we kicked off a new class at Lumley, and we couldn’t be more excited!

With the support of amazing ASU students and dedicated volunteers, we’re exploring the value and importance of mental health, no matter where we find ourselves in life. Together, we discussed the give-and-take of community—how we are impacted by those around us and how we can positively contribute to the communities we are part of.

Mental wellness isn’t about having the perfect circumstances; it’s about learning how to build resilience, connection, purpose, and hope wherever we are.

Every time we step onto the yard, we are reminded that growth, healing, and change are possible. It is always a blessing and an honor to serve alongside these incredible women.
