This is John Shirley. Commissioner Samuelson and I are determined to rename a county road to Charlie Kirk Dr, Rd, Blvd as quickly as we can jump through the hoops required…. As with most things, I expect bureaucratic red tape to slow things down as much as possible and this is where I’m turning to y’all.

We need help selecting the “right” road…

Part of the process is contacting any residents or businesses located on the street and have a public hearing. There is some hassle / expense for those affected by the change, such as changing addresses on EVERYTHING in your life. That’s why we need your help.

The road has to be outside the city limits of Granbury, and it has to be maintained by the county. What that baically means is if it’s a SH or FM its off the table

Ideally the road would cross a major road or highway at a traffic light and not (or not yet) have that many people or businesses affected.

I will do my best to procure a list of county maintained roads to post here…. Stay tuned and I’ll be watching comments for good ideas.

Hood County whether we like it or not punches way above its weight class on the national and sometimes international stage. I believe this is a good way to honor and keep alive Charlie’s memory as well as a hopefully spark a nationwide movement.
