It’s a word that defined my playing career from day one. Focus meant showing up with purpose, blocking out distractions, and committing to every rep, every save, every game. It was about discipline when no one was watching, and trusting the process when things weren’t going my way.

That same mindset has always been at the core of my coaching philosophy with JPL Goaltending. I challenge my clients to stay locked in on what they can control, to build habits with intention, and to embrace the details that separate good from great.

FOCUSED isn’t just a mindset, it’s a standard that drives growth on and off the ice.

In my lecture sessions, technical ex*****on and psychological performance are integrated together because elite goaltending demands both! Each component is taught to reflect how the position is played at the highest level.

As coach who is certified Clear Sight Analytics, I use the most advanced analytical system in hockey to age-appropriately teach game situations, identify release types, and determine net location. This framework allows us to accurately assess ex*****on benchmarks and understand what elite performance truly requires in each scenario.

Within every game situation are prerequisite skills that must be present for consistent success. Through detailed video breakdowns and NHL examples; these skills are isolated, clarified, and then scaled into small, incremental, and workable practice plans that my goalies immediately apply on the ice and can take with them into their seasons.

This approach teaches goalies how to understand the game, train with purpose, and perform at an elite level.

This is what it’s about.

It’s always rewarding to hear that a goalie I’ve coached made his or her desired team, but growth also shows up when things don’t go as planned.

That ability to redirect disappointment into progress is what separates good athletes from great ones.
