One of my stained glass students entered their piece in 4H fair. They received a Reserve Champion ribbon! 👏👏👏

During their time in my ✨ArT sTuDiO✨... They designed their pattern, chose their glass, learned to cut, grind, foil & solder. I'm so glad I was able to watch them grow and learn this new skill set. I'm excited to guide more young (and "seasoned") students soon! 🤗

So many updates!

First, I printed a second type of little bird house on the 3D printer in the ✨ArT sTuDiO✨. They're so cute!

Second, we planted an impromptu garden. Only peppers & tomatoes so far but at least it's something! I didn't think we would have time to mess w it this year. It seems like projects always escalate when the weather is nice... Then we are go, Go, GO!

Third, drywall in the ✨ArT sTuDiO✨ expansion is DONE! So now... I need to prime & paint then get storage shelves installed and organize all of my art supplies all over again 😅 Things are moving along though! I am hoping to offer a full schedule of workshops and art classes for Fall & Spring '26-'27!! 🎉

Do you get super busy when the weather is nice or is it just us?!

New month...
New ✨ArT sTuDiO✨ updates!

So... Spring semester 2026 has officially ended and I can announce... We are expanding the ✨ArT sTuDiO✨! It has begun!

We have been working behind the scenes to expand the Quite Dandy Homestead ✨ArT sTuDiO✨. With this expansion we will be able to host workshops & classes more often right here at our homestead. This will include more semeter-long homeschool art courses as well as single-day "make & take" workshops.

I will post more of our progress as the work continues but I wanted to let you all know... It's happening!

One of the conversations about the issues with AI and stained glass patterns specifically is

"Oh but that AI pattern worked for me"
Yes, but at what cost was that to someone else?

Example below:
1: I asked it to generate a pattern
It produced an entirely non workable pattern

2: I fed it my design as the prompt
It still produced a pretty bad pattern in terms of practicality, but notice the cuts, especially around the lotus area.

It went from entirely unworkable cuts to mimicking my pattern, making the cuts workable.

AI does not understand the perimeters of stained glass.

It doesn't understand the point of the off lines, they view them closer to a stylised mosiac. Pointless and for the aesthetic of it being told it's stained glass.

If you bought a workable AI pattern, for that pattern to be workable, it was fed someone else's work directly.

If you can find the original creator, buy from them.
If that isn't available, just save the image and trace it.

(This is my own moral stance and yours may vary, but you can't mass produce stained glass as a home hobbyist who might sell some Suncatchers at a market 🤷)

Do not financially support theft directly to the thief.
(Aka Etsy AI pattern sellers with 5k plus sales in 2 months)

It hurts what is already a dying craft, we all know that stained glass isn't a money maker for the vast majority of us, but funding the AI Etsy pattern sellers hurts real makers even more by taking away what little revenue there is to be had.
