Some things are simply too meaningful to put away.

While many people were preparing for the Independence Day holiday weekend, today was a regular workday at 𝐇𝐨π₯𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐒𝐚π₯ π‚π‘πšπ©πžπ₯. We spent part of the day doing something we've wanted to do for a long timeβ€”giving new life to a small piece of our history.

The letters that now proudly spell π‡πŽπ‹π“ on our building aren't new. They once hung on the original Holt Funeral Home on Main Street, just south of the hospital. When the funeral home moved to our current Capps Road location in 1974, those same letters were carefully preserved and mounted on the funeral home's roadside sign, where they welcomed families for nearly five more decades.

When a new sign was installed in 2021, we couldn't bring ourselves to part with those original letters. They had become more than just a signβ€”they had become a symbol of the families, memories, and generations who have entrusted Holt Memorial Chapel with the care of their loved ones.

Today, those letters found a new home.

A special thank you to Mark Sloan, Allison Redman, Keith DeMuth, and Carson Collie, who helped carefully install this piece of Holt history for our community to enjoy.

As Harrison celebrates its 150th birthday this year, and America celebrates its 250th birthday, we're reminded that history isn't just found in books. Sometimes it's found in the people who came before us, in the buildings that have stood the test of time, and even in the letters that have welcomed families for generations.

For more than a century, Holt has been part of Harrison's story. Today, we are honored to remain the oldest continuously family-owned and operated funeral home in the area, a legacy made possible only because of the trust and confidence generations of families have placed in us.

We're grateful to preserve a small piece of our past while continuing to serve families with the same compassion, dignity, and excellence that have guided 𝐇𝐨π₯𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐒𝐚π₯ π‚π‘πšπ©πžπ₯ for generations.

Here's to the history that shaped us, the community that continues to support us, and the privilege of serving Harrison for many years to come.
