Still crazy to think about how advanced this was back in the day.

This psychic villain didn't just challenge the game's hero, Solid Snake—he directly engaged the player by breaking the fourth wall. Before the fight began, Psycho Mantis "read your mind" by scanning your PlayStation Memory Card, eerily commenting on save files from other Konami games. His chilling taunt, “You like Castlevania, don't you?” blurred the boundaries between fiction and reality, creating an unprecedented gaming experience.

The fight itself was equally innovative and mind-bending. Psycho Mantis effortlessly dodged every attack, seemingly predicting each move with supernatural precision. Frustrated and mystified, players soon discovered the shocking solution wasn't found in-game—it required physically unplugging their controller from Port 1 and plugging it into Port 2, disabling Mantis’s psychic abilities. This ingenious twist transformed a boss battle into an unforgettable puzzle, forever cementing Metal Gear Solid as a visionary masterpiece and Psycho Mantis’s fight as one of gaming's most legendary moments.
