Our flock is doing well in spite of weather conditions! They really only need shade, fresh water and an occasional treat!

🌿 A Little Change of Plans for This Weekend 🌿
After giving it some thought, I’ve decided to keep The Rusty Rake Homestead farm stand open this weekend, but in a simplified way.
While I won’t be offering any fresh baked goods this weekend, I will still be stocking the cooler with all organic:
🥚 Fresh farm eggs $5
🥒 Fresh-picked cucumbers $1
🌱 Garden-fresh zucchini $2
🧄Garlic Scapes $3
💐Fresh Cut Bouquet (sm/$8, med/$10, XL/$20)
Our garden is producing beautifully right now, and I didn’t want anyone to miss out on the fresh harvest just because I’m taking a break from baking. All other non bakery items will still be available!
This will give me a chance to slow down, catch my breath, and recharge a bit while still making our fresh eggs and produce available to the community.

Ladies and gentlemen, we’re proud to introduce the newest cast members of The Rusty Rake Homestead: The Whiting True Blue Seven! 🐔💙
After weeks of observation and a highly unscientific chicken-naming committee meeting, these youngsters have officially received their names.

The naming theme took a delightful detour somewhere between country music legends and classic television icons.
Getting these photos was another story.
The plan was simple: place seven chickens on a roosting bar and take a few cute pictures.
The chickens had other ideas.
There was wandering.
There was squawking.
There were dramatic exits.
And at least one bird seemed convinced the entire photo shoot violated her constitutional rights.
But after plenty of patience and a few chicken treats, everyone finally got their official headshots and name tags.
We’re excited to watch this crew grow up and eventually fill our egg baskets with beautiful blue eggs. Until then, they’ll continue their important work of creating chaos and keeping us entertained.
