Most of the snow has melted away now, so the dogs and I have been having fun bikejoring, hiking, and playing!
Enjoying some spring runs with the pups!

Dogs and I had great Jr Iditarod race and finished 5th.
I am super happy with how the dogs ran and looked at the finished. All of the dogs looked incredible throughout the entire race. Q led the whole race which was nice to give Star a good break from leading. Arlo ran with Q for the first run and Star and Q led to the finish.
I had 1 two year old and 1 one year old on my team. The 77 mile runs were the longest they have ever ran. They both did really well and looked like they could have ran more at the finish.
Really proud of these dogs. This was a super tough season, but they continued to do a great job adapting to the different traveling and training we had to do.
Videos of some recent training runs. Our next race, Willow Jr 100, starts tomorrow!
Half of my Knik 200 team. Unfortunately my sled broke a couple miles after I took this video, so the other half of the team did not get to run. Thankfully my sled was able to get fixed up and should be ready to go for this weekend.
The rest of the team will be Star, Taco, Hobbes, Nutmeg, and Masey along with one borrowed dog from Mackey's Alaskan Distance Dogs. Due to very tough training conditions this season the dogs are not quite where I was hoping they’d be mileage wise, so we will just be taking it easy and breaking up the long runs with nice little camps on the trail.

Today’s views weren’t bad
Some behind the scenes work to prep for a series.
First the meat has to be cut with the bandsaw into small, easy to thaw sticks for meals or small chunks for snacks. Then all the meat has to be weighed out and bagged.
The beef and liver will be thawed with hot water and mixed with kibble, fats, and other supplements then fed as meal while we camp. The dogs will be given snacks about every 2-2.5hrs of running and when we pull in and out of camp depending on how well they eat their meals.
Mileage bump today and the team looks super strong!

Woke up to the nice surprise of a bit of snow! Not enough to run the main team on a sled yet, but perfect to go have some fun with the older dogs.

First camp of the season! 16 mile run followed by a 2.5hr camp and a short 4 mile run. The dogs ran great. Camping manners could use some improvement, but for the first camp of the season they did pretty well.
