Florence Nightingale wasn't just compassionate. She was a systems thinker.

And most people don't know that part of her story.

She used data, mortality statistics, to redesign hospital environments.
She didn't just care for patients. She changed the structure of how care was delivered.

That's not inspiration.
That's coordination.

On International Nurses Day, I want to honor the legacy she actually left:
Not 'be kind at the bedside.'
But 'build systems that protect patients.'

Let me be honest about the nursing shortage, because appreciation posts aren't enough.

We are projected to be short 264,000 registered nurses by end of this year.

Two hundred and sixty four thousand.

And the response from most systems is a Nurses Week breakfast and a social media post.

That's not enough.

The workforce crisis is a care coordination crisis.
When teams are understaffed, transitions fail.
Patients pay the price.

I'm not saying this to be negative. I'm saying it because naming the problem honestly is the first step to building something better.
