Urban shrimp fishing in Taiwan might be my new favorite pastime 🎣🦐
It’s such a cool setup — you grab a rod, bait your hook, and fish right inside these indoor shrimp pools that locals hang out at for hours. People of all ages pull up with friends (I was there a little too early), snacks, and serious patience… and you can always tell who the regulars are.
Best part? Whatever you catch, you eat. There’s usually a grill station where you cook your shrimp right there on the spot 🔥 If the shrimp aren’t biting (or your skills need work), you can still order food off the menu and hang out anyway.
These spots are all over Taiwan and they’re less about fishing and more about the vibe — late nights, good company, and one of the most unexpectedly fun local experiences I’ve had out here.
Met some locals in Taipei who spend their weekends hiking together outside the city… and somehow I got invited along.
One of those unexpected travel moments that ends up being a highlight.
Also had no idea Taiwan had this much nature and scenery. Pleasant surprise.

Possibly the best inflight meal I’ve ever had.
Relax, I know airline food sets a low bar… so yes—this just means it’s the best mediocre meal I’ve had in the sky 😂
Still a win.
Honestly, you’d be surprised how bad some inflight meals can get—and from some pretty well-known airlines too.
