Jason Miller
Sailor Jerry Festival
@808 Shows

To Those Saying Boycott Jason's Shows.

Sometimes we need to speak up and give credit where credit is due
I've got something to say and support for Jason and all the hard work he's put in for the scene for 30 years.

Back when we first started before I even had my band. I remember Jason not making any money trying to find a way to bring mainland bands to play alongside local bands so that local bands could get recognition and join them on tours.

We couldn't get a single band here. It was just too expensive for bands to fly here.
Jason dug into his own pocket and figured out a solution. Yes local bands didn't make much but we all understood that we couldn't get these bands from the mainland to join us without his support so we accepted that.

I'm not saying we didn't make anything I'm saying we didn't make much but what we did make was connections with those bands that did join us. That was worth more than then a couple hundred bucks at the time.

We're talking about music that wasn't the mainstream. Music you had to go in the record stores to find. Music you had to know what you're looking for. And Jason was able to bring them here. Now he didn't do this alone, back then the scene supported each other. That means we didn't talk s*** about each other. We didn't tell each other to boycott each other. Whatever arguments and disagreements we had we still worked with each other until we found understanding through communication.

If you love any of those old bands know that Jason Miller had a big part and helping them become who they were. Saying to boycott Jason's life's work is saying to boycott the 808 music scene grown from it.

I myself even tried to jump in and try to help bands but eventually found it was too difficult thanks to tax and insurance. So I really appreciate and understand the efforts Jason goes through. I also understand the costs. So to say bands never get paid. You're insane. Everybody had to pay their dues in the beginning of their careers And it all came back once you did.

Thanks Jason for 30 years of support
Also thank you to the Bands that contributed to helping the scene grow.

On that note. For our friends in unit 101!
With this amazing show coming up,
Let's make sure the merch for all the bands playing gets Bought!

This is how we support bands directly.
Don't put all the weight on one person.
If you believe your band should be getting paid more are you supporting the other bands directly yourself?

, can't wait! 🔥🔥🔥
